Membership Reciprocity

An additional perk of being a member of the O.C.B.C. includes utilizing your membership's reciprocity priveleges to visit hundreds of other boat and yacht clubs around the United States.

The O.C.B.C. is a member of the following organizations:

  • Yachting Club of America
  • Inter-Lake Yachting Association

Which clubs can an O.C.B.C. member visit using their reciprocity?

A directory for the Yachting Club of America-affiliated clubs is available for viewing behing the 1st floor bar. Simply inquire with the bartender on duty to review it. This book is the only copy issued to the club and may not be borrowed. You are encouraged to take pictures or notes for further investigation at a later point.

Club amenities such as food & beverage, docking, slip rental, fuel, etc. may be available according to each club's information space within the directory book. It is highly advised to contact each club in particular for further information.

Please also note days, times, and seasons of which each club is open. Certain clubs, especially those in colder winter climates, may not be open year round. Some clubs may also impose restrictions on how often an visiting member may use reciprocity with their club.

What proof(s) of membership do I need in order to visit these clubs?

Proof of membership / eligibility to visit may vary depending on each club's own requirements. They may require you to present your membership card, a letter of introduction from the O.C.B.C., may contact the O.C.B.C. to verify membership status, etc.

It is highly advised that you contact each club prior to your visit in order to understand their requirements along with any specific dress codes they may enforce.

Should you desire a letter of introduction, you may request one from the O.C.B.C. Secretary. This letter states that you are in fact a member in good standing of our club along with any affilations.

All bills incurred must be handled directly with the club you visit.

A member may not incur monetary responsibilities against the O.C.B.C. unless previously approved through the Board of Directors. Please ensure all bills for food, drink, fuel, facilities, etc. are handled directly with the club you visit.

Reciprocity policy for those who wish to visit the Oakland County Boat Club
    Effective 9/14/2026

The Oakland County Boat Club participates in the Yachting Club of America (YCA) Reciprocity Program and the Inter-Lakes Yachting Association (ILYA) Reciprocity Program and is pleased to welcome eligible members of participating clubs.

    • Advance notice is encouraged. Reciprocal members should call the Club prior to their visit when possible.
    • Check-in is required upon arrival. Reciprocal members must identify themselves and their guests, show proof of membership when requested, and provide a valid credit card at check-in. Please check in and let us know you are on Club property, even if you are only stopping briefly, such as to use the restroom. If needed, a member of our team may contact the guest's club to verify membership status.
    • Six (6) people total are permitted per reciprocal visit, including the reciprocal member.
    • The reciprocal member must remain with their guests. When the reciprocal member leaves, their guests must leave the Club as well.
    • Reciprocity is limited to twenty (20) visits per calendar year per individual.
    • All reciprocal members and guests must follow the posted Club House Rules.
    • Reciprocal members arriving by boat may use the two temporary dockage spots at the very end of the point, when available. The seawall, tying up to other boats along the seawall, and member boat wells are reserved for members. No overnight boat parking is available. Use of the boat ramp is available at the posted nonmember fee. Boat trailers may not be left in the parking lot.
    • Reciprocity cannot be used on Poker Run days or Fireworks Day. This includes access to the property, parking lot, and seawall.
    • Oakland County Boat Club no longer accepts reciprocity from Bay City Yacht Club.

The Club reserves the right to restrict or suspend reciprocal privileges as needed for Club operations, events, or member activities.
