2026 Membership OpportunitiesStarting January 1st, 2026, applicants may visit the O.C.B.C. clubhouse with their proposer and two (2) sponsors to complete an application form. fill out paperwork and pay a $50 non-refundable application fee by check or cash. No credit cards will be accepted. Application forms will be available at the bar All applications received in January will be entered into a "name pull process" to determine the order of applicants for the waitlist. Results of the pull will be posted and shared in February. Any applications received after January 31st will be added to the end of the waitlist in the order of which they are received. The waitlist shall remain in-place throughout the remainder of the calendar year and will be dissolved on December 31st. A current member may propose OR sponsor a maximum of two individuals for membership each calendar year. Spouses are not eligible to propose or sponsor any individual. Applications found to be Incomplete or be of fraudulent nature will be invalidated and no refund shall be offered or issued. |
New Membership ProcessNew members are welcomed into the Oakland County Boat Club every March and April following a determination of how many openings are available. More information on how membership openings are determined is described below. An equal number of candidates for membership are then notified in the order they were pulled according to the waitlist. Once notified of their eligibility to be voted on, candidates for membership membership candidates participate in an orientation hosted by the Membership Committee to learn about the club, its history, governance, facilities, financial responsibilities, etc. Each candidate then appears before the membership during the March General Membership Meeting (GMM) to introduce themselves and their interests in the O.C.B.C. Each candidate is then voted on individually by members present at that meeting. Candidates attaining a 2/3 majority will then be accepted into the membership pending initial financial responsibilities. Candidates who are unable to attend the first GMM opportunity due to personal reasons (travelling, sickness, etc.) may be voted on at a following meeting. First year annual member dues are prorated depending on which month a member is accepted into membership. |
Determining Openings for New MembersAnnual Determination: All regular members (non-Honorary Life Members) are required to renew their membership by January 31st of that membership year. Members that pay their dues between February 1st and 28th are subject to a late fee. Memberships not renewed by February 28th are subject to forfeiture. Should that now former member also be a boat well lessee, the well shall also be subject to automatic forefeiture any may not be appealed under any circumstance. Individuals who fail to renew their membership by February 28th may appeal in writing for reconsideration into membership. Once those opening numbers are known, an equal amount of candidates will be considered and voted on during the March General Membership meeting or one following. See above for additional information.
